Near objects
ciliary muscles contract
tension in suspensory ligament reduces
lens become more convex
pupil size reduced

Far objects
ciliary muscles relax
tension in suspensory ligament increases
lens become more concave
pupil size increased

low light bright light
pupil dilate constrict
ciliary muscles relax contract
radial muscles contract relax
amt of light entering eye increased decreased

knee jerk
-impulese produced travel along the sensory neurones to the spinal cord
-in the spinal cord, the impulses travel to the relay neurone
-in the relay neurone, the impulses travel along the effector neurone to the effector
-upper thigh contracts, causing the knee to jerk.

cerebrum-70% of the brain, controls all voluntary actions, responsible for speech, intelligence, reasoning and usage of information
cerebellum-controls and co-ordinates musclar action
medulla oblongata-controls all involuntary actions
hypothalamus-controls heart rate, blood pressure, feelings, contains thermal receptors and osmoreceptors.

adrenaline
liver-converts glycogen to glucose, increases energy in the body
lung-increases rate of gaseous exchange and heart beat, increases oxygen concentration in the blood
heart-increases blood pressure and heart rate, increases blood flow to muscles
sweat glands-increase sweating,
hair-erector muscles contract.. leading to goose pimples
skin-arterioles contract, carries more blood

during rigorous muscular activity
-during streneous activity, breathing alone is not enough to provide sufficient oxygen for respiration
-muscle experiences a shortage of oxygen, causing formation of lactic acid
-accumulation of lactic acid may lead to muscular cramps or fatigue
-muscle experiences oxygen debt during periods of anaerobic respiration
-rapid breathing helps to repay the oxygen debt by increasing oxygen in the muscles. convert lactic acid to glucose.
